Article XIII. Planned Unit Development (PUD) and Special Land Use Approval |
76-523. Raising of fur-bearing animals; kennels. |
(a)
Permission. The raising of fur-bearing animals, including dog kennels
(see township kennel ordinance), offices of a veterinarian and animal
clinic, mink, rabbit, cat and canine establishment uses may be permitted
in the A-1 district.
(b)
Site requirements. Site requirements shall be as follows:
(1)
Minimum site size: 20 acres.
(2)
The site shall abut a public road having a right-of-way not
less than that of a collector thoroughfare (86 feet) or a proposed
right-of-way of a major or secondary thoroughfare.
(c)
Other requirements. Other requirements shall be as follows:
(1)
There shall be provided an area of at least 100 square feet
for each animal, including the area devoted to interior kennel space
and runs.
(2)
All interior building areas used for the keeping of animals
shall be soundproofed.
(3)
All animals shall be kept in soundproofed buildings between
8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.
(4)
Exterior dog runs and nonsoundproofed interior buildings shall
not be located closer than 200 feet to any lot line.
(5)
Soundproofed interior buildings shall be located at least 100
feet from any property line.
(6)
Exterior areas for the keeping of dogs shall be provided with
fencing capable of confining the animals.
(7)
All exterior dog runs shall be screened from view by adjoining
parcels and the public road.
(8)
The design and appearance of buildings used as animal boarding
places shall be consistent with surrounding uses.
(9)
One parking space shall be provided for every five kennel runs.
(10)
All kennel runs and interior building areas shall have concrete
floors or a suitable equivalent that can be easily cleaned.
